Tom Bamonte reports:
"The CASKA booth at Canoecopia was a success.
We were located in the great hall outside of the
exhibition space. There were lots of other
organizations with booths. They all had crowded
displays jam packed with photos and text. Our booth
stood out with the beautiful simplicity of the blowup
of the iconic photo that is on the CASKA homepage.
That photo got lots of people to come over to the
booth. Once they were there the CASKA volunteers
chatted them up with mostly true tales of the
opportunities for paddling in the Chicago area.
For some of time we were able to display Tom
Heineman's map of his Lake Michigan trip. People were
facinated to hear about the trip. Some even believed
us when we told them that you had to either paddle
around or across the lake to become a CASKA member!
Tom's presentation about his Lake Michigan trip was
one of the hits of the show. I attended his session
on Saturday and the room was packed to the rafters.
The room was so full I could barely push my way
inside. I heard Tom say that he is going to tackle
Lake Superior in 2008."
