September 8 – BCU Canoe Safety Test w/Kelly Blades
September 9 – BCU 3 Star Assessment w/Kelly Blades
September 9 – BCU 2 Star Assessment
September 29 & 30 – BCU 4 Star Training & Assessment w/Kelly Blades
Geneva Kayak Center’s Sea Kayak Surfing Workshops are designed to help paddlers learn better boat control and wave riding technique in rough conditions. These workshops are taught by Geneva Kayak Center’s open water instructors.
October 6-7: Beginner Surf Workshop
The Beginner Surf Workshop is geared towards those who have a firm grasp on flat-water paddling and rescue skills and want to move into open water paddling. Knowledge of the surf zone, surf safety and etiquette, preparing for rough water, launching/landing in waves, boat control, and bracing to prevent capsize are all covered in the beginner course.
October 13 or 14: The Advanced Surf Workshop
The Advanced Surf Workshop is geared towards those who have taken the beginner surf workshop or have previous experience surfing sea kayaks. We’ll move past survival paddling into handling waves with grace and style and attempt to have you making long, fun rides (forward and reverse) on 2-6’ surf.
