Two beautiful touring kayaks for sale. $1100 each.
CD Solstice GT-S HV: This is the high-volume version of the classic CD Soltice GT-S. It has one extra inch of gunwale between the hull and deck. The higher volume allows for more carrying capacity. It is a 2004. White deck on white hull.
CD Solstice GT-XL HV: This is the high-volume version of the big man's CD Soltice GT-XL. It has a big cockpit, plenty of foot room for my size 14s, one extra inch of gunwale between the hull and deck. You can carry all your camping gear and more. Easily three weeks worth of food. It is a 2003. Yellow deck on white hull.
Each comes stock with a rudder and super-secure hatch covers. We added a deck compass to each boat as well. They track very well, are very fast, and in good to very good condition. A few scratches on the gelcoat from trips to Alaska and Maine.
We aren't doing much touring or kayak camping lately, so we are downsizing our boats a bit.
These are $3200 boats new, but we are asking only $1,100. A great chance for a great deal on a great boat.

Chesapeake Light Craft 17LT Sea Kayak with rudder. I built this boat a couple of years ago. I seem to want to build them more than paddle them...weird. I still have my other hand-built boat when I do go and am starting a double this winter. This craft was built from a kit (which is to say all the pieces came in a couple of long boxes....not much different than building from scratch). I took my time (about 5-6 months) building and finishing it. And it paid off, It has adjustable foot pedals that also control the rudder. The rudder can be lifted out with a tug on a rope or lowered, if necessary.

I am 5'6" tall and weigh about 155 lbs. She fits me well. She has two watertight compartments to hold gear (camping or day trip). It has a bright finish over Okoume Ply, a type of mahoganey. Deck is rigged and there is an upgraded seat. Listed with the DNR until 2012...saves you a few bucks...and is titled. Worried about a wood boat not being sturdy enough? Don't. These things are as solid as they are beautiful. The 1/4" thick board sandwiched between layers of fiberglass and epoxy are like an i-beam of strength. Scratches clean up with varnish, tougher gouges require a bit more attention. I can show you how to do touch ups or can handle them for you for a small fee.
This is a gorgeous boat that looks even better in person.
For a little extra, I have a wood/carbon fiber mix paddle available for it as well as an extra car carrier. Everything is negotiable. I also will include a light spray skirt.
This boat looks great, sails straight and true and has been a joy to paddle most of which has been on the Chicago River though she has been on Lake Superior and Michigan. It was a great beginner/intermediate boat; stable and easy to get in and out of.
