Friends of the Chicago River would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated in our paddling events this year. Friends welcomed over 400 paddlers to our Chicago River Flatwater Classic on October 4, and hundreds more enjoyed our public and private canoe trips throughout the season.
If you haven't made it out paddling this year, or you are just looking for one more chance to enjoy the river before winter, this weekend's trip is for you! Join Friends for our last canoe trip of the season THIS Saturday, October 25. The Fall Colors on the North Branch canoe trip offers paddlers with some experience the opportunity to be immersed in the natural surroundings of the northern stretch of the Chicago River.
This trip starts at the serene Skokie Lagoons and winds through the beautiful wilderness of the northern Forest Preserves before finishing at Linne Woods. Catch a glimpse of wildlife like the endangered black-crowned night heron, great blue herons, and maybe even some deer, beavers or mink!
The trip is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and paddling experience is recommended. Regiser online at www.chicagoriver.org/paddle, but don't wait! Registration closes at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 23 and space is limited.
